Obituary of Cecilia Seiser

Cecilia "Sis" Seiser of Mainesburg, PA , passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Bradford County Manor in Troy PA. She was 89. Sis was born on February 15, 1927 in Oradell, N.J. to Paul and Cecilia (Schneider) Sattely. She grew up in NJ, the Bronx and Flushing N.Y., where she lived much of her life. She got her BA in Education with a major in Occupational Therapy, and a MA in Occupational Therapy and Counseling, both from NYU. Sis worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in the Bronx, NY, finally retiring from the position of Coordinator of Rehabilitation Medicine Service. She also taught OT related classes at NYU and at Columbia University, and presented at professional conferences. Sis received several awards and honors for her contributions throughout her career. She and her husband migrated to Mainesburg where they had a house built on Seymour Hill Road. They shared many happy and active years in that community. Intelligent, warm and preferring a homespun lifestyle, Sis enjoyed stewarding their land, growing vegetables kitchen arts and quilting. She volunteered at the Southern Tier Food Bank and at Holy Child Catholic Church where she founded their Medical Ministry program. She is survived by a step son and step daughter-in-law, Bradley and Barbee Seiser of Redding, CA; a step daughter and step son-in-law, Deborah and Carlo Ferrara of Smithtown, NY; two nieces, Virginia Cecilia Sattely and Diana Marie Craycraft; a nephew Michael Frank Sattely; and seven great nieces and nephews. Sis was predeceased by her husband Bernard Seiser in 1997; her brother Paul John Sattely; and nephew Paul John 'Skip' Sattely Jr. and his wife Christina (Soldt) Sattely, both who had lived with her part time. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11 AM at Holy Child Church, 237 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA., with Rev. Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial will be held at Mainesburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers it is best to donate to charities above, which she supported: The Holy Child Catholic Church, earmark for its Medical Ministry.
