Obituary of Penny Shedd

Penny Lee Shedd, 65, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 surrounded by her family at home. Penny was born August 26, 1958 to Chester and Rosanne Mccaslin in Wellsville NY. She attended the Woodhull School, later graduating from Addison High School in 1977. Penny was employed for years as a waitress for many local restaurants. Penny also milked cows for the Knapp farm. Penny worked as a process auditor at HMAC for 22 years until her diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Penny enjoyed traveling with her husband, Craig, and loved her family traditions. One of which was her annual cookie day exchange. Penny was known for her massive flower and vegetable garden; this was one of the ways she spread joy to all her neighbors and family. She had a great spirit and was always smiling. Penny was a doer, after her diagnosis she taught herself to make homemade soap, smoke meat, and became a stained-glass artisan. Penny is survived by her husband Craig Shedd whom she married on July 7, 2012; children, Amie (Steve) Housel of Rochester, NY, Amanda (Joe) Bennett of Athens, PA, Chris (Tara) Shedd of Lindley, NY, Jennifer (Dave) Shedd Crawford of Savanah, TN, Stephanie (Harland) Crawford of Wellsboro PA, and Amanda (Jon) Kennedy of Mansfield, PA; mother, Rosanne Mccaslin; and siblings, David Mccaslin, Robynn LeGalley, Kenneth Mccaslin, Patrick Mccaslin, Daniel Mccaslin, Karen Pearl and Brian Mccaslin; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Mccaslin; brother, Chester "Dodie" Mccaslin; grandson, Justin Shedd; and best friend, Michelle Mccaslin. A memorial service will be held at the Roseville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11 AM with Pastor Kitty Keller officiating, a fellowship meal will take place at the conclusion of services, burial will take place at 2:30 PM at the Wellsboro Cemetery.
